Built on the site of 275 in 1851 by Mrs Mary Ann Jones.
This charitable and munificent undertaking was designed for the purpose of affording a comfortable asylum to such poor persons of the Parish of Winterbourne who may in their turn, be eligible thereto, when from age or infirmity they are unable to procure a sufficient livelihood by their manual labour. |

This building was lived in before 1786 by a Mr George Maggs. The pub has a very old skittles alley and club room that has been used for over 150 years.
Weekly markets were held on the green in front of the pub. |
