The school at that time was situated behind the Congregational Chapel on Whites Hill Common, and moved to the new Hambrook School on the other side of Whites Hill Common shortly after this picture was taken.

Levi Luff, the Headmaster, is seen here on the right.

The teacher on the left, we think, is his wife, Constance Luff.
