Mountaineering Sketchbooks

On display in the museum are two sketchbooks, recently acquired, dated 1879 and 1893, produced by 2 nieces of Frank Tuckett. Marion and Margery Fox, daughters of his sister Mariana and his friend and first climbing companion - Joseph Hoyland Fox. The girls obviously went on some mountaineering expeditions themselves.

Lizzie Tuckett, sister of Frank, also went on some mountaineering expeditions, which she recorded with more delightful sketches. We have her notebooks on display.
